Zombicide

The 24 hour Race of Zombicity

The Lambermont is only a few blocks ahead. The buildings here do not look too damaged, and some cars look like they could still run. The supply room is probably full, since it looks like the looters didn’t linger here. We pretty quickly saw why: the area is swarming with zombies. The previous inhabitants couldn’t really put up a fight. Before exploring, we have to clean up. I dream of bubblegum.

The living are losing ground. The pockets of resistance fall one after the other. If we had a CB we could organize the survivors. The zombies are growing in numbers and our supplies are getting scarce. I could kill for some toothpaste.

Goals

  • Find 2 of each supply card (Water, Bag of Rice, Canned Goods).
  • Make it to the exit with supplies.

FADE IN:

EXT. THE LAMBERMONTDAY

The edge of downtown San Antonio, large mansion and makeshift walls around, zombies shamble in the distance.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. THE LAMBERMONTLARGE LIVINGROOMDAY

Survivors sit around a table discussing their next move.

JOE, Hispanic scavenger that tinkers with everything, slams his hand down on the table.

JOE
C’mon, why are we sitting here debating this? We need to get a radio; we’re never gonna find out if there’s a safe haven if we can’t talk to anyone out there..

Doc, American doctor, rescued by Joe often plays devil’s advocate to any suggestion.

DOC
It’s not that simple Paco, We’re all out of ammo except for the Dick over there and we’ve lost too many people recently.

TERRY, American vet who prefers to play it safe.

TERRY
Doc’s right, we’re all but out of supplies and we have too many mouths to feed.
Looks around at the other survivors.
Good, we’re in agreement, this is a supply run then.

JOE
C’mon mang, funk dat. Fine, supply run, a radio is a supply and if I see a radio hut, I’m getting me a radio.

TERRY
Joe, you’re one tough hombre and I think it’s best if we stick together.

CATHY, American ex gold medalist that prefers running to anything.

CATHY
Where are you gonna get batteries for that radio Joe? Now we gotta waste time hunting down batteries?

JOE
Duh, they come with hand cranks, haven’t watched any old war movies? And if it doesn’t, I’ll make one for it.

Terry
He does have a point.

Synopsis

Joe huffed as he braces himself in the doorway. It was a routine supply run until the zombie dogz showed up, they had not encountered any up to now and they were bearing down on Cathy’s position. The sprinter was fast, but not as fast as those damn dogz. Joe likes to think he is being altruistic, but Cathy is carrying all the canned goods they’d found; if they left her behind a lot of people would not be eating tonight. He looks back at Doc, unsure of his intentions. The rest of the group is down the street trying to stem the tied of walkers and Wanda had taken off to who knows where; probably trying to get herself killed again.

“You got my back? If I go out there and you don’t back me up, I’ll shoot you myself.”

“The girl is Alpo, we should let he distract the dogz and get back to the group.”

Joe levels his sawed-off at Doc, “Do you have my back?!?”

“Yeah, I got you’re back, Jesus.”

Joe and Doc make a mad dash across the street, as they tear through Zombies on the way. They see Dick and Jeff busting into a building down the street to escape the horde coming at them. In the distance he hears a chainsaw and knows Wanda hasn’t gone down, yet. Joe lets two fly before switching two his SBFs and enters the maintenance shack. He tears through the zombie dogz but there are too many of them. Doc is busy clearing the street of zombies and the pack of rabid dogz turn their attention to Joe. Joe braces himself for the onslaught.

“You boys need some help?” Terry comes in behind Joe and levelss his AK-47, the rest of the pack go down without a whimper. “Do your thing kid and let’s get out of here.”

Joe finds Cathy sprawled out on the floor, her arms are bloodied from where she fended of the dogz and she has lost a lot of blood.

“Can you walk?” asks Joe as he applies a tourniquet to one of her arms. Cathy nods and Joe yells out the door to Doc, “Let’s go, Doc.”

“I’ll hold them back while you…”

“Damn it Doc, we’re all going. LET’S GO!” Sometimes Joe isn’t sure where Doc’s head is at.

The quartet exit the opposite end of the Shack and can see Wanda down the street fending off a horde with her trusty chainsaw. They make their way to Wanda’s position when Jeff comes out of the building pointing back. They had found Jeff hiding in a closet, thrust a gun in his hands, and drug him along. He is waving frantically.

“They got Dick, the Zombies got Dick.”

Joe looks at Cathy then at Terry. The grizzled vet frowns and then pushes Cathy to Joe.

“I got this one kid, you get the girl to safety.” Terry and wanda rush into the building with Jeff close behind while Joe, Doc, and Cathy make their way down the street.

Joe hears flurry of gunshots inside the building and the trio wait as long as they can. Cathy tries to prove useful by shooting a few zombies that are coming up the street.

The other four emerge from the building and Dick is tore up pretty bad and leans heavily on Jeff. Terry waves for them to go and that’s all that Joe needs. Once Joe and Cathy head out, Doc is not far behind. Wanda and Terry hustle to catch up to them, but Dick and Jeff lag behind. Four runners barrel down the street towards Dick and Jeff; the others are out of sight.

“Sorry man, you’re just one more mouth to feed and we really don’t have the room.”

Jeff’s quizzical look fades as Dick levels his sawed-off and pulls the trigger. The Runners descended upon Jeff as Dick slips around the corner to catch up to the group.

A Friend In Need

Night falls on the Alamo City; Bill Miller Plaza is dull and gloomy, filled with unhealthy moisture. Samantha slams the door of the little technical room, gasping. She holds her right arm with a sweaty hand. Wanda was taking too long to get back and that made Sam nervous. Preoccupied by what may have happened, she failed to see that zombie and that thing fell on her without warning. She inspects her bloody arm. The disgusting wound looks like a bite. Her own sweat begins to irritate the injury. She rips a sleeve of her blouse and ties it unsparingly around the wound. She hopes Wanda gets back soon.

Wanda manages to slip away from the group that saved in order to get back to Samantha. Sam wasn’t where she left her so Wanda checks the dead drop they had set up. There is a note left inside… with blood on it.

- Wanda, where are you? I got scared and looked for you. I got bit.
Wanda, I’m afraid!
I’m going to the technical room near campus.
If you find this, come quickly.

Synopsis

Joe leans against the side of the building holding Nikki’s hand. They had been running since that abomination crashed throu Willy B’s Pizzaria. He recalls seeing Tiff, but lost track of the others in the flight.

“You can let go of my hand now.” states Nikki. She lost her rifle when the herd passed through and now clutches a lead pipe. Joe squeezes Nikki’s hand reassuringly and Nikki rolls here eyes.

“Am I interrupting a special moments by Hallmark?” Troy steps out of an alley way and quickly glances down the side street. Nikki finally manages to pull free of Joe.

“Where is everyone?” Nikki asks. Troy points his sawed-off behind the two and they turn and see Tiff jogging up, out of breath.

“I can’t find anyone else, but the place crawls. What are we going to do?”

“I think we should find a radio, I saw a Radio-hut a few blocks back.” Joe shrugs and looks for support.

Tiff shakes her head. “We need to find the others, or look for more survivors. The more people we have, the better chance we stand.”

“And if we had a radio, we can find out where they are…”

“Can it radio-head. Look around, where are you gonna keep this radio? In your Calvin Klein underwear? We need to find a place where we can hole-up and rest. If we don’t get a place that we can all fall back to, then we might as well just join the walkers.” Troy feigns a zombie facial expression before checking his sawed-off and makes sure he has plenty of rounds left.

“I know a place a few miles from here, big security door, lots of space. Probably doesn’t even have any zombies in it.” Nikki takes a bite out of old apple pie while the others look at her suspiciously. “What? I used to house sit for them.”

The four survivors travel down grayson street and approach a large mansion. The alarm was going off and walkers were shambling in through some broken windows. The sound would never do, attracting too much distraction. Troy points to a power station, “We gotta get in there and shut off the power.”

As soon as the team opens the power station, 3 walkers, probably electricians by their uniforms, attack them. The quickly search for weapons and head to the maintenance building in the back to find the spare key Nikki tells them is there. Troy tells Tiff to search a nearby building for supplies and Tiff is mauled by walkers as soon as she gets the door open. Joe quickly applies a tourniquet and helps Tiff towards the maintenance building. Soon the tell-tale roar informs the group that things have gotten worse. Troy turns to the team and lays out a plan.

“Ok look, I’ve been fighting these things since you’ve been crapping in your pants while your mother feeds you green paste from S-Mart. This is what we’re going to do… Joe is going to run out there and take out that fatty. Tiff is going to cover him by taking out those runners coming up the street. Nikki is going to sprint out with the Maltov and blast that Abomination to smithereens. I’m going to use Nikki’s rifle to cover her in case any walkers get too close. Any questions? Good!”

Joe shakes his head, there are so many things that could go wrong with this plan that they should probably run. He doesn’t like leading this plan, but it all revolves around him taking out the fatty in the way. He only has one shot at clearing the path. The team launches into action, Tiff stepping out behind Joe as he runs down the street towards the fatty he gets as close as he dares and lets two fly. He hears Nikki running past as the fatty falls to the ground. Nikki hurls the makeshift explosive as Troy takes the riffle from Tiff and eliminates the runners sprinting for Nikki. Soon the entire street is in flames and the team starts fighting towards the front door of the mansion. Troy takes the lead and the party sees Tiff slowly falling behind. Joe holds the doorway while Troy and Nikkin quickly board up the exposed portions of the house. Burning muscles through sweat and blood, Tiff hurls herself into the building as Joe slams and bolts the front door. Troy comes out of one of the back rooms dusting off his hands and checking his sawed-off.

“See, just as I planned.”

Synopsis

Joe had hooked up with a number of survivors he found in the Alamo City. Troy was a wacked out zombie-hunter; he says he’s been fight zombies for years, but that’s impossible. Even still he proves to be good at fighting them, although he’s a little too preoccupied with finding a chainsaw. Tiff on the other hand is cool and level headed, spraying death with her trusty SMG. Kris used to be a repo-man and had some experience dealing with hostile opponents. Last they had Cathy, Joe wasn’t sure about her. She had been a sprinter in the Olympics and her solution always seemed to be to run.

The team made their way into the first building, but it wasn’t long before they heard the tell-tale roar of an Abomination (Round 2). That was a bad sign, but Joe quickly found the makings of a Molotov cocktail (Bottle Round 2, Gasoline Round 3). The group herded into the back of the building where they found a pair of survivors, Louise the construction worker and Nikki the southern girl. Joe wanted to dash across the street to the other building, but Troy kept telling the group to wait. Finally Kris opened the door and Cathy dashed out to clear the street and ducked back into the room.

From somewhere in the building a dog came in, scared and angry. Louise gave the mutt some food and the dog took to her. She named the dog Banquo. Meanwhile the zombies were bearing down on their hiding spot. It was only a matter of time before the zombies found them.

They could hear the Abomination; it was getting closer. Nikki grabbed the Molotov from Joe and dashed out into the street. She lit up the entire street dashed back to the safety of their hiding place. The team could hear the howls of the abomination and the sound sent chills up their spines.

The main group dashed across the street into another building while Troy and Louise went back to try to find supplies in another building. Joe, Cathy, Nikki, Trish, and Kris easily cleared the other building, but Troy and Louise got pinned down and couldn’t make to the third building. Troy cleared the street and Louise dashed out to open the door, Zombies poured out of the building and Louise had to duck back into the first building. The hoard would have certainly spelled their demise, if the Joe and the team hadn’t come out of the second building, shooting down the street and making a ruckus. The horde turned towards them and totally ignored the two. Cathy made a bold move and advanced towards the hoard while Troy and Louise abandoned the search and ran through the first building to get out. Joe tried to provide backup, but the scavenger soon found that he could not save Cathy and retreated to the safety of the group.

The team managed to hold the zombies at bay until Troy and Louise were safe, but the zombies had advanced on Cathy. Louise sent Banquo to save her, and it looked like Banquo was lost. In a last ditch effort, Cathy grabbed Kris’ pair of sawed-off shotguns and cleared the street to allow Banquo to slip away at Louise’s call.

The team had grabbed enough supplies to last the next week, but what were they going to do now? Joe wanted to find a Radio-Hut to try and build a new radio. Tiff said the mission was too close and needed more survivors. Troy said none of it was any good if they didn’t find a safe place to hole-up.
